I often walk by a wall that stands high,
It’s covered in black paint that never dries.
I wander along for hours each and every day,
Running my finger along the way.
And sometimes when the light is right, in the early morning,
I see images that hold a false power.
I see myself reflected in the slick sheen,
I see an escape to fortune,
I see a pipe dream.
My heart beats faster, as I am transported to a strip,
Ahead of me stands my nemesis.
I see a crowd in a Japanese restaurant,
A vespertine, grease-dream kind of oceanfront
I see one thousand love hearts,
One thousand copper heads,
I see a stream of mind, spread-eagled on her bed.
OUTRO
I met my love through the apple store,
I see how she dries her hair in the morning,
I see the pictures she sends to her boyfriend,
I’m a ghost.
I swear in the wall I saw these things,
Or was I just staring at a screen?
